Lead with the decision, not the subject
Open with why you are applying now. A specific moment beats a general enthusiasm every time.
Turn the job into evidence
Shift supervision is people management. Rota planning is resource allocation. Handling complaints is conflict resolution. Name the skill, then give the example.
Address the gap directly
Do not hope nobody notices the years since your last qualification. One honest sentence about what you were doing and why you are ready now closes the question.
Be concrete about the course
Name two modules and say what you want from them. It takes ten minutes of reading and it is obvious when someone has not done it.
